Unwilling to buy brush guards or expensive brush holder?

Continue reading and I will show you how to make one for yourself at an inexpensive price!

This is how it will look.
Not really pretty but usability is key!! hehes

ITEMS REQUIRED:

  1. Funky looking sponge ($1.50 from Japan Home)
  2. Sticks (from Artfriend, pencils can be used instead)
  3. A coil of rope (any tape will do too)
  4. Scissors/ Pen knife

CREATING THE BASE:

Basically you can create any kind of base structure that you prefer.

Click on the picture to learn more about lashings.

LASTLY
Poke the sponge through and create slits on it for the brushes to hold on.
The best thing is the sponge can be replaced if it under went too much wear and tear!!

[DIY] BORING JEANS TO COOL RIBBON JEANS

YEAHH!!!

Finally a proper post!
hehes..
I've been reaaaaally lazy lately.
Sorwee m(_ _)m

Today I will be sharing with you a super cool DIY-er!

Her youtube user name is 'SECRET LIFE OF A BIONERD'.
SHE DOES THE MOST AMAZING DIYs!!

So that is her version of the Bow Jeans, and this is mine!

Feel free to follow all her steps but I have slightly modified it a little.

STEP 1: PICK A PAIR OF SKINNY JEANS THAT IS STRETCHY AND SLIGHTLY LOOSE.

Note: If the jeans are very tight in the first place it wont fit you anymore after you are done!

I used UNIQLO's straight cut skinny pants.

STEP 2: MEASURE WHERE YOU WANT THE CUT OUT TO START FROM.

It doesnt really matter if its high or low, all depends on your preference.

STEP 3: DECIDE ON THE 'HOLE' SIZE AND MARK IT OUT.

I used 2.5".

STEP 4: DRAW A STRAIGHT LINE DOWN.

Honestly speaking I was quite stuck at this point as I cant figure out if the 'hole' size will be consistent throughout.

(Dont understand what im saying? You will when you try it!!)

Anyway, it doesnt matter.... Just make sure that the line follows through..

STEP 5: DRAW THE ARC.

No measurements required just randomly draw! HAHA

STEP 6: FOLLOW EXACTLY AS THE VIDEO ABOVE.

I chose to make 6 ribbons.
Because -ahem- I followed Cheesie's.

Picture belongs to Cheesie, taken from her instagram.

STEP 6: INSTEAD OF LEAVING THE MIDDLE PORTION OF THE RIBBON EXPOSED, CREATE THE 'CENTER BAND'.

I had extra fabric for this as I altered the length of the jeans too.
YEAH for being short!

Sew and flip over to hide the raw edges.

Put them through the ribbons to get these cuties~

STEP 7: USE DOUBLE SIDED TAPE TO SECURE THE RIBBON IN PLACE AND SEW.

I deviated from the tutorial as I fear that it may tear off with just glue!!

Cheat way using double sided tape.
TRUST ME IT SAVES ALOT OF TIME/EFFORT THAN PINNING!!!!!!

Stick it on. READY TO SEW!

I used the zigzag stitch for extra security. (IMO)
I almost died stitching them up.
-pulls hair-

JIANG JIANG!

There you have it!!! AWESOME PAIR OF 'NEW' JEANS!!
It took me 7hours to complete this.....

Say Hi to Yuki the annoying dog!

Obviously she wants to be on camera -_-

That's all~ feel free to ask me any question regarding the process~
GOOD LUCK & HAVE FUN ^^
